In-House Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory allows us to provide quick and accurate bloodwork, urinalysis, parasite screening, and cytology results. This allows us to diagnose your pet efficiently and accurately so we can get them feeling well as soon as possible.
Imaging
Diagnostic imaging is another method we use to visualize possible pet’s illness or discomfort. Digital x-rays provide detailed images of bone, and are also helpful in viewing the chest or abdomen. Ultrasounds provide a detailed look at individual structures within the abdomen.
Preventive Care
From puppy vaccines to geriatric health screenings, we are strong advocates of preventing illness and discomfort. We want your pet to be as comfortable and healthy as possible, and are here to guide you through care at all stages of their life.
Anesthetic Monitoring and Support
Each anesthetic patient is monitored closely by the veterinarian and by an experienced veterinary assistant. All anesthetic patients are administered intravenous fluids, and body temperature is maintained using an IV fluid warmer and heated surgery table.
Outside Laboratory Services
We work with multiple laboratories providing us a wide variety of diagnostic testing options such as histopathology, bacterial and fungal culture and sensitivity, specific kidney and liver function tests, and testing for various metabolic disorders.
Surgery
Our clinic has a full surgery suite, where we perform most types of soft tissue surgery. All of our surgical patients are closely monitored throughout their procedures with advanced monitoring equipment including ECG, capnography, and pulse oximetry.
Dentistry
Just like with people, pets’ dental health is critical to their overall health and happiness. We offer dental health evaluations and cleanings, as well as general dental procedures.
End-of-Life Care
The end of a beloved pet’s life is difficult for everyone involved. We help you make this transition as peacefully as possible. We offer “Quality of Life” consultations to provide guidance regarding end-of-life decisions.
Hospice
We offer hospice care for patients with terminal illness. When it is time to say goodbye, we provide home euthanasia so you and your pet can be as comfortable as possible.
What to expect from your appointment?
History
A veterinary assistant will gather information regarding your pet’s health, including medical history, current medications, diet, and presenting problem (if any). The veterinarian will review this information prior to the examination.
Examination and Initial Assessment
The veterinarian will perform a thorough physical examination of your pet. This will allow her to provide an overall assessment of your pet’s health and will provide a basis for her recommendations. Sometimes, especially during preventive care visits on healthy pets, or for minor medical problems, a diagnosis may be reached based off the physical exam alone. However, for many medical problems, further diagnostic tests will be necessary before a definitive diagnosis can be made.
Discussion of Recommendations and Treatment Options
After the physical examination and assessment, the veterinarian will make recommendations regarding further diagnostic and/or treatment options. This may include vaccine and preventive care recommendations during wellness visits, or it may include further diagnostics such as bloodwork and/or x-rays to investigate medical problems. Often, multiple diagnostic and/or treatment options are available, and the veterinarian will discuss the benefits and risks of each so you may make the decision that is most appropriate for you and your pet.
Procedures
Once a treatment plan is agreed upon, any steps that can be completed the same day will be completed. In the case of preventive care visits, these will generally be performed during your visit. Many minor tests and procedures for sick pet visits can also be performed during your appointment. If extensive diagnostics or anesthetic procedures are required, we will discuss an expected time-frame for them, and work with you to schedule them accordingly.
Follow-Up
Once your visit is complete, a veterinary assistant will review the veterinarian’s recommendations and any medications that were prescribed. We will also let you know when the veterinarian recommends seeing your pet again, and answer any further questions that you may have about your appointment.
